Life Science 11

Course Outline: LIFE SCIENCE 11

Course Duration:
You have one calendar year to complete this course from the date of Activation.

Units of Study:

  • Unit #1 – Introduction
  • Unit #2 – Cells
  • Unit #3 – Viruses
  • Unit #4 – Evolution
  • Unit #5 – Taxonomy
  • Unit #6 – Plants
  • Unit #7 – Simple Organisms (Animals)
  • Unit #8 – Advanced Organisms (Animals)

Introduction:

This course looks at many groups of living things. It explains how these life forms are related to each other. It examines the impact that these organisms have upon the environment, human health, and the economy.

Recommended prerequisites:

The student must have at least high school level reading skills. This is not an extremely difficult course, but lots of reading is required.

Resources:

No textbook is required.  All of the resources are built into the course web pages.

However, you must have access to a computer and the internet.  Basic computer skills, like the ability to compose Word documents and pdf files would be helpful.

Evaluation:
Activation Assignment = 5%
Other Assignments = 15%
Unit Summary Exercises = 50%
Final Exam = 30%

Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to be actively engaged in this course.  If you are inactive for a long period of time, then we could assume you have withdrawn.  Ministry of Education regulations prohibit students from retaking an online course during the two reporting periods that follow their withdrawal.
