Course Outline: PHYSICAL & HEALTH EDUCATION 10

Course Duration:You have one calendar year to complete this course from the date of Activation

Introduction:

Physical and Health Education 10 is all about staying healthy. We will look at physical literacy (fitness, sports, activities); healthy and active living (benefits of healthy living, overcoming barriers, setting goals); social and community health (relations, social pressures) and mental well-being. We will explore and develop ways to create good habits, goals, strength, perseverance, healthy relationships and acceptance of others. The ultimate goal of this course is to equip students with the skills and knowledge to maintain healthy minds and bodies.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 100 activity hours across a variety of physical activities of their choosing, as well as to complete five core written assignments. Log marks are based on the detail of the reflections, the variety of activities, and the development/intensity of exercises (based on each individual).

Evaluation:

Activation Assignment = 5%

Five (5) Assignments = 25%

Activity Logs = 70%

Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to log onto the course and submit one assignment each week (or have contact with the instructor). Students who do not log onto the course, or keep in contact with their instructor on a weekly basis, will be viewed as having withdrawn from this online course. If you are active and withdraw from an online course, the Ministry of Education regulations will prohibit you from retaking this online course for two reporting periods.
